Toward Robot Adaptation of Human Speech and Gesture Parameters in a Unified Framework of Proxemics and Multimodal Communication

چکیده
In this work, we present our unified framework of proxemics and multimodal communication based on static data-driven models of how social signals (speech and gesture) are produced and perceived by both a social robot and a human user, and propose extensions to enable dynamic model adaptation of these human communication parameters.

Autonomous human-robot proxemics: socially aware navigation based on interaction potential
To enable situated human–robot interaction (HRI), an autonomous robot must both understand and control proxemics—the social use of space—to employ natural communication mechanisms analogous to those used by humans. This work presents a computational framework of proxemics based on data-driven probabilistic models of how social signals (speech and gesture) are produced (by a human) and perceived...

To enable socially situated human-robot interaction, a robot must both understand and control proxemics—the social use of space— to employ communication mechanisms analogous to those used by humans. In this work, we considered how proxemic behavior is influenced by human speech and gesture production, and how this impacts robot speech and gesture recognition in face-to-face social interactions....

To enable socially situated human-robot interaction, a robot must both understand and control proxemics—the social use of space—in order to employ communication mechanisms analogous to those used by humans. In this work, we focus on social speech and gesture production and recognition during both human-human and human-robot interactions. We conducted a data collection to model these factors as ...
متن کاملConceptual motorics: generation and evaluation of communicative robot gesture
How is communicative gesture behavior in robots perceived by humans? Although gesture is a crucial feature of social interaction, this research question is still largely unexplored in the field of social robotics. The present work thus sets out to investigate how robot gesture can be used to design and realize more natural and human-like communication capabilities for social robots. The adopted...
متن کاملInteracting with robots via speech and gestures, an integrated architecture
Effective human-robot communication is one of the main concerns in modern robotics. Involved systems should be very robust, allowing little chance for misunderstanding users commands. The main purpose of this work is to develop a general framework for multimodal human-robot communication, which allows users to interact with robots using speech and gestures, integrated into unique commands. The ...
